Rose Cup Is Back!|
Oct. 8, 2013
Inspired by the victorious cancer battle of USC senior Kaitlyn Christian's mother, Rose, the USC women's tennis team is hosting the second installment of the Rose Cup this Saturday (Oct. 12) at Marks Stadium. Kaitlyn's teammate Giuliana Olmos came up with the plan last year, wanting to hold an event for USC student-athletes to raise support for breast cancer awareness and research. The first Rose Cup was a success, and Olmos and her teammates plan to go bigger for this year's edition.
This weekend, USC women's tennis opens the courts of Marks Stadium to all USC student-athletes for the Rose Cup, running 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 12). Interested Trojans can pair up for a 16-team doubles tournament, or just take a whack at some casual drills and games with the women's tennis team. Lunch is free for all who attend, and donors will be making contributions to the Norris Cancer Center at USC based on the number of student-athletes in attendance.
Student-athletes interested in participating in the doubles tournament can enter for $5 per team, and will receive a Rose Cup shirt, athletic bag and grip tape. All attendees are also encouraged to donate to the Norris Cancer Center at USC by purchasing a Rose Cup shirt or donating directly at the event.
USC student-athletes should RSVP for the event to Matt Ackels at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 213-740-1533.
Come out and play!
