The fall season continues to ramp up for the USC women’s tennis team as the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships get underway this weekend. The first course of action will be prequalifying rounds, which will be hosted by Pepperdine. From there, the qualifying and main draw will take place at Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and the Women of Troy are locked in for competition in every realm.

Prequalifying competition in Malibu will see three Trojans take a stab at advancement. Junior Zoë Katz will be joined by freshmen Jessica Failla and Rianna Valdes there. Valdes is entering her first season as a Trojan ranked as the #2 newcomer in the nation. A winning effort at Pepperdine will send those players on through to qualifying rounds at the Riviera.

There, USC already has its solid set of sophomores — #36 Madison Westby, #59 Gabby Smith and #61 Meredith Xepoleas — lined up for qualifying duty. Meanwhile, awaiting her Trojan teammates in the main draw is USC’s top gun, #10 Giuliana Olmos, who is settled into the singles draw.

Olmos will also be paired up with Valdes for a spot in the qualifying doubles draw, alongside fellow Trojan pair Katz and Westby. In prequalifying, USC has Failla and Smith paired up, while Xepoleas will team with freshman Alex Letzt.

Prequalifying rounds in Malibu will run Oct. 3-4. Once action moves over to Riviera Tennis Club, qualifying is set for Oct. 6-7 and the main draw competition will run Oct. 8-11.
