USC's Maria Sanchez worked her way to a title last weekend, winning in doubles action at the USTA Women's Circuit's Oak River Rehab Challenger in Redding, Calif. The Trojan grad teamed up with former UCLA player Yasmin Schnack as the tourney's top-seeded doubles pair, rolling up three solid wins before pulling out a tight one in the title match.

Sanchez and Schnack had to face off as opponents as well while in Redding, going head-to-head in the singles draw, where the old collegiate rivals had a second-round bout that Schnack won before falling in the quarterfinals. The Trojan-Bruin duo joined forces later and teamed up well in doubles together, however. The USA pair pushed through straight-set victories in the first round, quarterfinals and semis to take on the No. 2 seeded American team of Brittany Augustine and Whitney Jones. Sanchez and Schnack would persevere in the final, gutting out a 6-7 (2), 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory to snag the doubles title.
