    Peterson Starts Day With Win, Ends With Loss

    STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - After advancing with a win Wednesday morning, sophomore Jewel Peterson ended the day with a loss in the third round of the NCAA Women's Singles Championship at the Lincoln Tennis Center.

    Peterson defeated Northwestern's Colleen Cheng 7-5, 6-1 in second-round action. The match marked the third meeting for the pair this season. Cheng defeated Peterson, 6-4, 6-4 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in February. Peterson took the next match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, when the two met again in the NCAA Team Tournament Round of 16.

    The Trojans' 28th-ranked sophomore ended her season in the NCAA Third Round by falling to Arizona State's Adria Engel 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.

    Peterson posted a 31-13 overall singles record this season.
