    May 12, 2015

As the Women of Troy take their top seed into the NCAA Championships in Waco, Texas, a trio of Trojans have picked up honors from the ITA Southwest Region. Freshman Madison Westby has been selected as the ITA Southwest Region Rookie of the Year, while head coach Richard Gallien is the ITA Southwest Region Coach of the Year, and West Nott is the ITA Southwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Freshman Madison Westby is the fourth Trojan to be named ITA Southwest Rookie of the Year, following in the footsteps of Danielle Lao (2013), Sarah Fansler (2007) and Amanda Fink (2006). Westby has posted a 23-9 overall singles record to date in her freshman campaign, having clinched seven matches for the Trojans while also earning herself a place in the NCAA Singles draw. Recently named the Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year, Westby is currently ranked No. 57 in the nation in singles. In doubles, she's posted a 19-10 overall record so far. At the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Westby won all three of her singles matches, including match-clinchers in two of those tilts.

Richard Gallien and West Nott's dedication to bringing in quality talent has been epitomized with this 2015 USC team, which is balanced with three seniors, one junior, one sophomore and three freshmen in regular action. From top to bottom, Gallien and Nott have a group of outstanding student-athletes, whom they have guided to one of the most standout seasons in program history. The Women of Troy went undefeated in Pac-12 play to win their second conference championship in the past three years. What's more, USC has earned the top seed into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1985. The Trojans also are ranked No. 1 in the nation, marking 2015 as the first season since 2003 that the program has been the top-ranked team in the nation.

Under the direction of ITA Southwest Region honorees Gallien and Nott, the USC women take a 13-match win streak into the NCAA Round of 16 in the program's 24th consecutive trip to the postseason. Already with 23 wins this year, Gallien has secured the seventh 20-win season in his 20 seasons as head coach at USC. USC's 10-0 finish in Pac-12 play was the second undefeated conference finish for USC under Gallien's watch.

This year's pick as the ITA Southwest Region Coach of the Year is Richard Gallien's fourth career selection for the honor as head coach at USC. He also earned regional coach of the year accolades in 2003, 2009 and 2013 while coaching the Women of Troy. Gallien also was chosen the 2015 Pac-12 Coach of the Year this season. For West Nott, this is his second career selection as the ITA Southwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year. The Trojan associate head coach also won the award in 2009.

The Women of Troy are due to open the NCAA Round of 16 against No. 16 seed Texas Tech in a 7 p.m. CT match on Friday (May 15) in Waco, Texas, as the USC women continue their campaign to keep their winning run going right through to what would be the program's first national championship since 1985.
