    May 6, 2005

Freshmen Nicole Leimbach and Lindsey Nelson and sophomore Anca Anastasiu were all selected to compete in the NCAA women's singles championship draw, the NCAA announced on Thursday (May 5).

Leimbach, the 2005 Pac-10 Women's Player of the Year and ranked No. 9 nationally, was among 16 automatic qualifiers while Nelson, No. 16, and Anastasiu, No. 53, both earned at-large berths.

The Women of Troy, seeded seventh in the tourney, open team competition against Illinois-Chicago on May 13 in Marks Tennis Stadium.

Trojan sophomore Jamil Al-Agba was the only Trojan selected to play in the men's singles draw. Al-Agba and senior Johan Berg will also represent USC in the double draw. USC faces SMU in Seattle on May 13 to begin the team competition.

The women's singles and double competition will be conducted May 23-28 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., following the team tournament (May 19-22).

The men's singles and doubles competition will be held May 25-30 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas, following the conclusion of the team championships (May 21-24).

USC's women have won seven national team championships (NCAA, AIAW and USTA), including NCAA crowns in 1983 and 1985. This is the 14th consecutive year that USC has qualified for the NCAAs.

USC's men have won 16 NCAA team championships (second most in the nation), most recently in 2002. This marks the 29th consecutive year the Trojan men have received an NCAA postseason bid.
