Six Trojans Selected For NCAA Singles, Doubles Championships|

LOS ANGELES - The USC men's and women's tennis teams will have four players competing in the 2003 NCAA Singles Championships and two teams competing in the Doubles Championships, announced the NCAA Division I Subcommittee this afternoon in Indianapolis.
The Women of Troy will be represented by Jewel Peterson, Luana Magnani and Maureen Diaz in the singles tournament, while Peterson and Tiffany Brymer pair in the doubles tournament. Peterson will be making her fourth-consecutive trip to the championship in both singles and doubles. Diaz, who was last selected as a freshman at UC Irvine, is making her second trip to the postseason and this will mark Magnani's first singles selection. Magnani participated in the doubles championships last season with partner Anita Loyola.
The 64-player NCAA Women's Singles Championship begins on Monday, May 19, and runs through May 24, with one round played each day at the Ring Tennis Complex at the University of Florida. The women's doubles championship gets underway on Tuesday, May 20, as the competitors play one round each day capped with the final on May 24th.
The men's team will be represented by sophomore Prakash Amritraj in singles and Amritraj and RS junior Daniel Langre in doubles. These are the first-ever selections for both players in either event. The pair is 8-4 overall this season and captured the 2003 Sherwood Collegiate Cup Doubles Championship in January.
The 64-player NCAA Men's Singles Championship begins on Wednesday, May 21, and runs through May 26 with one round played each day at the University of Georgia. The NCAA Doubles Championship gets underway Thursday, May 22, as the competitors play one round each day, capped with the final on May 26.
Both teams open tournament play next week. The women host the first two rounds of the team tournament on May 9 and 10, while the men travel to UCLA for first and second round matches on May 10 and 11.
