Freshman Gabby Smith had another winning road trip with the Women of Troy in helping keep USC undefeated in Pac-12 play last week. Smith was near-perfect in singles play, and was responsible for the first doubles and singles wins for USC in both matches. For her dominating efforts, Smith has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the first time in her Trojan career.

Against No. 41 Arizona, Smith and doubles partner Westby drummed up an 8-6 win to start the day's work, and Smith would get USC to a 2-0 lead on the Wildcats with her 6-1, 6-1 singles victory next, paving the way for an eventual 5-2 USC win. The next day at No. 23 ASU, Smith and Westby grabbed USC's only doubles win on the day, and then Smith proved wholly dominant in singles as she shut out her opponent 6-0, 6-0 to pull USC even with the Sun Devils at 1-1, giving a spark to USC for a path to a 5-2 win in that one.

With Smith's help, the Trojans kept their win streak alive, now at eight straight wins as USC improved to 18-2 overall and to 7-0 in Pac-12 play with the road sweep. Smith is now on a seven-match singles winning streak of her own, and also has won seven consecutive doubles matches with Westby.

Smith is the fifth Trojan to win the award this season. She and the Women of Troy return home this week for two more Pac-12 matchups. USC will host Utah at 1:30 p.m. on Friday (April 10) and then turns to take on Colorado at 12 p.m. on Saturday (April 11) at Marks Stadium.
