Alison Ramos Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

    April 6, 2011

USC junior Alison Ramos rebounded from losses in previous matches by posting some powerful victories in last week's Pac-10 matches to help USC to two conference wins. For her efforts on both singles and doubles scenes for the Trojans, Ramos has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the first time in her USC career.

In road wins over Oregon and Washington State last week, Ramos combined forces with doubles teammate Cristala Andrews for two wins that kept that pairing's record a perfect 8-0 in dual-match doubles play. In singles, Ramos shut out her Oregon opponent Pascale Neubert 6-0, 6-0 before pinning up another straight-set win with a powerful 6-2, 6-1 victory over WSU's Andjela Kankaras. It was the Trojans' first road trip out of state this season, and the winning effort improved USC to 13-5 overall and 3-2 in Pac-10 play.

Ramos and the Women of Troy go back on the road this week for a trip to Arizona, as the No. 13 Trojans take on No. 15 Arizona State on Friday (April 8).
