Fourth-Ranked Women Of Troy Host No. 18 Harvard Before Flying North To Face The No. 22 Oregon Ducks|

THIS WEEK -- Following three impressive wins last week, the fourth-ranked USC women's tennis team (13-1, 5-0) hosts the No. 18 Harvard Crimson (8-5) on Wednesday, March 30, at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Stadium. Next, the Women of Troy head north to face #22 Oregon (13-4, 2-3) on Friday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m. in Eugene, Ore.
The Women of Troy return five letterwinners and welcome four newcomers in 2005. The young team features no seniors and a starting lineup led by two freshmen, three sophomores and a junior. USC went 18-7 overall in 2004, finished second in the Pac-10 with a 7-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Round of 16.
ITA RANKING UPDATES -- The Women of Troy climbed another spot this week to No. 4 in the latest ITA rankings released on March 29. The Trojans boast two players ranked in the Top 15 in singles with No. 10 Lindsey Nelson (freshman) and No. 11 Nicole Leimbach (freshman), USC's Anca Anastasiu and Lindsey Nelson come in at No. 34 in doubles.
YOUTH PREVAILS-- USC freshman Lindsey Nelson and sophomore Anca Anastasiu have done more than what is normally expected of such youth. Nelson holds a spotless record so far this season everywhere on the court, while Anastasiu holds only two blemishes. Nelson and Anastasiu have teamed up for a 11-0 record in doubles play at the No. 2 position, where they are currently nationally ranked at No. 34. In singles, Nelson has only dropped two sets all season where she stands undefeated at 14-0. Anastasiu holds a strong 12-2 season record.
USC vs. HARVARD -- Wednesday's match against Harvard will mark only the eighth meeting between these two teams. The Trojans hold a 7-0 advantage in the series. USC won their last meeting, 7-1, in 2000 at Marks Stadium.
USC VS. OREGON-- USc and Oregon have previously met eight times in their history with the Women of Troy winning all eight. Last season, the Trojans defeated the Ducks, 7-0, at Marks Stadium.
RECENT RESULTS-- The Women of Troy are coming off three victories last week, all against Top-50 competition. USC beat #20 TCU, 4-3, on Wednesday, March 30, at Marks Stadium. The Trojans then defeated both Arizona schools, 6-1-- #36 Arizona State on Friday, March 25, in Tempe, Ariz. and #47 Arizona on Saturday, March 26, in Tucson, Ariz.

HEAD COACH Richard Gallien -- Richard Gallien is in his 10th season at the helm of the USC women's tennis program. Last season he guided the 2004 Women of Troy to a 18-7 overall record, the NCAA Round of 16 and a No. 8 final national ranking. Gallien began his career at Pepperdine, coaching the men's team for three years, before joining the Trojan family. Over the last 12 years, he has compiled a 219-107 (.672) overall record and his teams have made nine appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals four out of the last six years.
