Fifth-Ranked Women Of Troy Host No. 20 TCU Before Heading To The Desert To Face The Arizona Schools|

THIS WEEK -- Following a 5-2 victory over No. 13 Texas last week, the fifth-ranked USC women's tennis team (10-1, 3-0) hosts the No. 20 TCU Horned Frogs (12-1) on Wednesday, March 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Stadium. Next, the Women of Troy travel to the desert to face #36 Arizona State (5-4, 1-2) on Friday, March 25, at 1:30 p.m. MT in Tempe, Ariz. and #47 Arizona (6-6, 0-1) on Saturday, March 26, at 12 p.m. MT in Tucson, Ariz.
The Women of Troy return five letterwinners and welcome four newcomers in 2005. The young team features no seniors and a starting lineup led by two freshmen, three sophomores and a junior. USC went 18-7 overall in 2004, finished second in the Pac-10 with a 7-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Round of 16.
ITA RANKING U[PDATES -- The Women of Troy jumped three spots to No. 5 in the latest ITA rankings released on March 22. The Trojans boast two players ranked in the Top 15 in singles with No. 10 Lindsey Nelson (freshman) and No. 11 Nicole Leimbach (freshman), USC's Anca Anastasiu and Lindsey Nelson come in at No. 34 in doubles.
YOUTH PREVAILS-- USC freshman Lindsey Nelson and sophomore Anca Anastasiu have done more than what is normally expected of such youth. Nelson holds a spotless record so far this season everywhere on the court, while Anastasiu holds only two blemishes. Nelson and Anastasiu have teamed up for a 11-0 record in doubles play at the No. 2 position, where they are currently nationally ranked at No. 34. In singles, Nelson has only dropped one set all season where she again stands undefeated at 11-0. Anastasiu holds a strong 9-2 season record.
USC VS. TCU -- Wednesday's match against TCU will mark only the second meeting between these two teams. USC won last season's first meeting, 6-1, at Marks Stadium on Jan. 23.
USC VS. ARIZONA STATE-- USc and Arizona State have previously met 52 times in their history with the Women of Troy leading the series 33-19. Last season, the Trojans defeated the Sun Devils, 4-3, in Tempe, in their only matchup of the season.
USC VS. ARIZONA -- The match between USC and Arizona will be the 54th in the series' history. The Trojans hold a 38-15 advantage over the Wildcats, including last season's sweep. Last year, the Women of Troy defeated Arizona, 5-2, in Tucson and then shut out the Wildcats, 4-0, in the NCAA Regionals in Los Angeles.

HEAD COACH Richard Gallien -- Richard Gallien is in his 10th season at the helm of the USC women's tennis program. Last season he guided the 2004 Women of Troy to a 18-7 overall record, the NCAA Round of 16 and a No. 8 final national ranking. Gallien began his career at Pepperdine, coaching the men's team for three years, before joining the Trojan family. Over the last 12 years, he has compiled a 219-107 (.672) overall record and his teams have made nine appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals four out of the last six years.
