    Lindsey Nelson Named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player Of The Week

    Sophomore Lindsey Nelson (Villa Park, Calif./Villa Park HS) was named Pac-10 Player of the Week after she defeated two ranked opponents last week to help lead the Trojans through a clean sweep of Washington and No. 73 Washington State in USC's opening matches of Conference play. Nelson teamed up with Luana Magnani in the No. 1 doubles position, the No. 35 ranked pair overcame Washington's Dinka Hadzic and Victoria Brymer 8-7, the doubles matches against Washington State were cancelled due to weather.

    In the No. 1 singles position Nelson beat No. 79 Dinka Hadzic of Washington, 6-2, 6-2. The following day No. 50-ranked Nelson overcame Washington's State's No. 88 Ekaterina Burduli, 6-2, 7-6. USC defeated both schools 6-0, the Women of Troy move to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in Pac-10 play.

    This is Nelson's first Pac-10 Player of the Week, and the second weekly honor for USC.
