The USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships are collegiate tennis' premier indoor team tournaments. The men's tournament, being hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle, began in 1973 and the women's, being hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Madison, opened in 1988. Each season these tournaments also offer a preview of the teams to beat in the May NCAA Championships.
This season's top seeds for the women's tournament are Stanford, Georgia, California, Vanderbilt and Washington. Stanford (2-0) has won a record six USTA/ITA titles.
For the sixth straight year the No. 1-ranked women's player in the nation will be in Madison, and for the second straight year it is Georgia's Agata Cioroch. This year's tournament also boasts the singles champions from the last four national tournaments: Cioroch ('03 and '02 ITA National Indoor), Stanford's Amber Liu (2003 NCAAs) and California's Raquel Kops-Jones ('03 Riviera/ITA All-American).
The tournament concludes with finals on Sunday.
