Magnani Falls In First Round Of ITA National Championships

    Nov. 6, 2003

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - USC junior Luana Magnani faced a difficult match-up in Thursday's opening round of the 2003 ITA National Intercollegiate Tennis Championships being played at the Varsity Tennis Courts in Ann Arbor, Mich. Facing second-seeded Agata Cioroch of Georgia in her opening match, Magnani was eliminated with a 6-3, 6-3 loss.

Magnani advanced to the national tournament as one of the top two seeded players at the West Regional Tournament held two weeks ago in San Diego. Due to the Southern California wildfires, that largely affected the San Diego area, the tournament was cancelled and the top seeds automatically advanced.

The ITA National Indoor Championships are the second of three national tournaments for collegiate tennis during the 2003-04 season.
