USC's Olmos/Scandalis Edged Out In ITA/Riviera All-American Semis|
Oct. 4, 2014
PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. -- USC doubles duo Giuliana Olmos and Zoë Scandalis came up against a tough Stanford pair in today's semifinal round of the ITA/Riviera Women's All-Amerian Championships. Olmos and Scandalis were aiming to get back to the doubles title match, which they reached last year, but their bid hit a snag with a loss today.
The #7 ranked doubles team in the nation, Olmos/Scandalis had taken out two other top-15 pairs in the previous two rounds of play at the Riviera Tennis Club. Today, the Trojan tandem squared off against Stanford's #15 Davidson/Zhao in the semifinals. After a tight first set went the Cardinal's way, Stanford buckled in and posted a 7-6, 6-2 victory over the Women of Troy to snag the ticket to tomorrow's title match.
USC's next action will take the Women of Troy to San Diego from Oct. 16-20 at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.
