Pulido/Ramos Advance Through ITA Prequalifying|
Oct. 3, 2010
WESTWOOD, CALIF. - The USC women's tennis team will have another pair of Trojans in the next round of ITA/Riviera All-American action, with doubles duo Valeria Pulido / Alison Ramos advancing through the prequalifying rounds held this weekend at UCLA.
Pulido and Ramos are both slated for singles play at the next stage of competition - qualifying rounds held this week in Pacific Palisades - and the pair will continue its doubles push as well thanks to a winning day today in prequalifying. After a first-round bye yesterday, Pulido/Ramos beat Harvard's Norton/Tachibana 8-5 this morning. The Trojans then secured their place in qualifying with an 8-4 win over fourth-seeded Adams/Garland of Texas Tech this afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center in Westwood.
Also competing today in Westwood was doubles pair Danielle Lao and Lyndsay Kinstler, who won their first-round match yesterday but lost this morning. Freshman Kaitlyn Christian opened her USC career with a first-round win on Saturday and added to that count with a solid victory this morning in the second round. Christian was edged in the third round, however. Cristala Andrews also missed a chance to advance to qualifying with a first-round loss in prequalifying.
