USC Doubles Moves On In Riviera All-American

    Oct. 4, 2007

PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. - USC's doubles duo of Amanda Fink and Gabriela Niculescu have pushed through to the next round of the competitive Riviera/ITA Women's All-American doubles competition in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The pair first powered through qualifying round to earn a place in today's Main Draw. On Friday, Fink/Niculescu will face No. 2 seeded Mijacika/van Adrichem of Clemson.

USC's singles effort was not quite as successful in today's first round matches. Sophomore Amanda Fink fell 6-4, 6-3 to Florida's Megan Alexander, and senior Lindsey Nelson had to withdraw from her match due to injury, forced out of the match with Clemson's Ani Mijacika after losing 6-1 in the first set.

In the morning's doubles play, Fink/Niculescu extended a three-match win streak that had begun during qualifying by beating Fresno State's Gloria/Rowe in the first round on Thursday, pulling out an all-out battle for a 9-8 (4) decision that puts the Trojan pair at 4-0 in doubles play together this season.
