Boren/Katz Edged Out In NCAA Doubles Round of 16|
May 23, 2014
ATHENS, GA. -- USC's last remaining representatives in the NCAA individual action in Athens, Ga., were edged out of the NCAA Doubles draw today in the Round of 16. Trojan doubles duo Brynn Boren and Zoë Katz -- ranked #16 in the nation -- tangled with the nation's #15 ranked pair from Auburn and came up just short with a 7-5, 7-5 loss that wraps up the senior-freshman duo's time together as Trojan teammates.
Boren and Katz had issued a strong upset in their opening round of NCAA Doubles action yesterday, taking out the #7 team in the land in straight sets. That scored the Trojan pair a place in today's Round of 16, where they faced Auburn's Burgmans/Flickinger. The two Tigers were able to pull off wins in two tight battles, ousting the Women of Troy with a 7-5, 7-5 decision. Boren and Katz paired to great success together -- both in their first seasons as Trojans. Together, the senior transfer and true freshman went 21-7 overall in doubles play.
