TULSA, OKLA. - USC junior Amanda Fink is making her first career trip to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals after posting another powerful win in singles competition at the NCAA Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. For the third consecutive match, sixth-seeded Fink generated some strong momentum with another straight-set victory. On Friday in the NCAA Round of 16, Fink knocked off William and Mary's Megan Moulton-Levy 6-2, 6-1. Fink now moves into the quarterfinals, where she will face 9-16 seed Fani Chifchieva (Auburn) on Saturday (May 25) in Tulsa. Fink also moves into the NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals with teammate Gabriela Niculescu after a 6-3, 7-5 win in today's Round of 16.

To propel her way into the NCAA Quarterfinals, Fink again was solid down the stretch. Against Moulton-Levy on Friday, Fink went down an early break to open the match, but quickly snapped Moulton-Levy's serve next and got two late breaks to go up 4-2 and then win the first set 6-2. In the second, Fink's momentum rolled her through to a 5-0 lead before Moulton-Levy held serve to snap a run of nine straight games won by Fink in the match. Fink held serve to win the match 6-2, 6-1, having surrendered only eight games in her first three singles matches of the tournament.

Later in the day, Fink teamed back up with sophomore Gabriela Niculescu for Round of 16 doubles action. A 5-8 seed in doubles play, Fink/Niculescu came up against Cal's tough pair Babos/Kusano. After staying on pace in the first set, USC got ahead a break on the Bears, up 5-3 to set up Fink for a strong service game for the first-set win. In the second set, Fink/Niculescu fell in a 1-3 hole but won the next four games to take the lead. After a USC break, the teams were tied up 5-5, but the Women of Troy regained control and managed another break for a 6-5 edge, and then Niculescu held serve to secure the match with and the quarterfinal trip for the Trojans with the 6-3, 7-5 decision.

Fink/Niculescu will face No. 3 seed Buck/Tefft of Notre Dame in tomorrow's doubles quarterfinals.
