OJAI, CALIF. -- USC junior Zoe Scandalis pumped out two straight-set singles wins today in the opening rounds of the Pac-12 Singles Championships in Ojai, Calif., to advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals. The No. 6 seeded Trojan will be one of several Women of Troy in action tomorrow, with four USC doubles teams getting underway while Giuliana Olmos and Gabriella DeSimone engage in quarterfinal competition in the singles invitational draw.

    PAC-12 TENNIS CENTRAL

USC had all six of its singles entrants open up with wins in today's Round of 32 for a victorious morning in Ojai for the Women of Troy. Scandalis, Kaitlyn Christian and Brynn Boren all nabbed wins to start up the Pac-12 Championship singles draw, while Olmos, DeSimone and Zoe Katz replicated that effort in the singles invitational draw. Scandalis would be the lone Trojan to emerge from the championship Round of 16, though, with her 6-4, 6-4 win over Utah's #101 Tereza Bekerova securing the USC junior's spot in tomorrow's quarterfinal, where she will face UCLA's No. 2 seeded Chanelle Van Nguyen at 12 p.m. At that same time, over in the invitational singles bracket, Olmos will tangle with ASU's Leighann Sahagun, and DeSimone will do battle with Cal's #60 Maegan Manasse for the right to advance to the invitational semifinals.

Doubles play will kick off tomorrow morning. USC's lone entry in the Pac-12 Championship doubles draw is a new pairing of Christian/Olmos. Christian already boasts back-to-back Pac-12 Doubles titles with teammate Sabrina Santamaria, while Olmos is looking to claim her first conference crown as she pairs with Christian tomorrow at 10:15 a.m.

USC has three teams entered in the invitational doubles bracket, DeSimone and Katz are paired up against the draw's top seeds tomorrow; Boren and Scandalis team up as the No. 3 seeded duo; and Paige Keating and Casey Reede will pair for the first time this season.
