USC Women Push Through Pac-10 Action|

OJAI, CALIF. - The No. 18 USC women's tennis team has more invitational singles action on tap along with the start of doubles play set for tomorrow at the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Championships in Ojai, Calif. Cristala Andrews earned a trip to tomorrow's Invitational Singles quarterfinals with today's effort, while the rest of the Women of Troy prep for the start of doubles play getting underway tomorrow. Andrews will face UCLA's Nina Pantic in tomorrow's invitational quarters.
In the singles main draw, the Trojans came up short of a quarterfinal bid. Fourth-seeded Alison Ramos snagged a tough three-set win over Washington's Joyce Ardies to open things up with her 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 decision. But in the Round of 16, Ramos was edged 7-6 (5), 6-4 by ASU's Hannah James. Senior Sarah Fansler fell 6-3, 6-2 in her first-round match to No. 6 seed Mari Andersson of Cal, and freshman Valeria Pulido endured a tough first-round battle against Cal's Kasia Siwosz before falling 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
Meanwhile, on the Invitational side, Cristala Andrews followed up a first-round by with a booming 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Arizona's Shannon Cassidy in the Round of 16. Leyla Entekhabi delivered a 6-2, 6-2 win over Stanford's Natalie Dillon in her opening round match but lost her Round of 16 clash with Cal's Nelly Radeva 6-3, 7-6(2). Lyndsay Kinstler pinned up a solid 6-4, 6-4 win over Arizona's Natalia Toporowska to start the day, but faced top-seeded Aleksandra Malovic in the Round of 16 and fell 6-4, 6-2.
