No. 3 USC Women Top No. 59 Illinois 6-1|

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The third-ranked USC women's tennis team posted a solid 6-1 win over visiting #59 Illinois on Wednesday afternoon at Marks Stadium. The Women of Troy rolled through doubles action and got three quick singles victories to secure the win before Anca Anastasiu added to the Trojans' tally with her 11th straight singles victory. USC is now 11-2 in dual match play this year.
Anastasiu stands alone as USC's lone player still undefeated in dual match singles play. The junior began the day by teaming up with Luana Magnani for an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles that got the ball rolling on the Trojans' dual match win. The rest of USC's doubles stayed strong as well, with Dianne Matias / Carine Vermeulen playing their first No. 1 singles match and winning 8-2, and Judy DeVera / Amanda Fink tacking up an 8-5 win at the No. 3 position.
Vermeulen zoomed through her No. 5 singles match to get USC ahead 2-0, and then Magnani and Matias pounded out the next two wins for the Trojans. Matias' 6-4, 6-0 decision over Emily Wang clinched the win for the Women of Troy with a 4-0 lead, giving way to Anastasiu's 11th straight winin two sets. Down 5-0, Illinois finally was able to grab a point when Macall Harkins held off a fierce comeback attempt by Amanda Fink at No. 1 singles for a 6-2, 7-6 (5) victory that stood as the Fighting Illini's lone point of the match. DeVera finished things off for USC with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
USC returns to Pac-10 action on Friday (March 31) against visiting Arizona at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Stadium.
