    March 10, 2011

LOS ANGELES - The No. 16 USC women's tennis team looked strong as they cruised to a 6-1 win over No. 59 Fresno State Wednesday afternoon at Marks Stadium. After sweeping doubles play, the Trojans took five of six singles matches from the Bulldogs to secure the victory. The Women of Troy improve to 9-2 overall for the season.

USC came out ready to play as the doubles matches kicked off with the team of Danielle Lao and Lyndsay Kinstler taking down Jodoin/McQueen 8-3 on court two. Cristala Andrews and Alison Ramos followed suit as they beat Hayley/Pola 8-5 in the No. 3 slot to seal the doubles point for the Trojans. The No. 20 team of Kaitlyn Christian and Maria Sanchez faced the fierce combo of Jodoin/McQueen and needed a tiebreak to wrap up their 8-7 win notching USC's third win of the day.

As singles action began the team only got hotter. Cristala Andrews won in dominating fashion 6-3, 6-0 over Bianca Modoc on court five. After a rocky doubles match, No. 2 Maria Sanchez exploded with an impressive 6-3, 6-0 win on center court over Marianne Jordan to extend USC's lead to 3-0. With the match point on the line No. 18 Danielle Lao was impressive as she made quick work of Laura Pola 6-1, 6-2 and clinched the team victory on court two.

USC's lone stumble came on court 6 as Lyndsay Kinstler fell to Olga Kirpicheva in a closely contested match 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 to put Fresno State on the board.

Alison Ramos rebounded for the Trojans with a strong showing on court four. She seemed to chase down every ball and placed her shots with precision as she emerged victorious over Mary Abby Hayley 6-2, 6-4.
