Women's Tennis Sweeps Oregon, 7-0|

LOS ANGELES - The 13th-ranked USC women's tennis team extended its win streak by defeating 23rd-ranked Oregon, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium. With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10, while the Ducks fall to 9-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
An upset victory by USC's 72nd-ranked Luana Magnani over Oregon's seventh-ranked Daria Panova highlighted the afternoon. The Women of Troy dropped only one doubles match in the sweeping effort and captured all six singles victories in two sets.
The Trojans led 1-0 after doubles play thanks to wins at courts one and two, by 8-6 and 8-3 scores, respectively. The Ducks' only victory of the afternoon came at court three as Davina Mendiburu and Ester Bak beat Judy DeVera and Melissa Esmero, 8-4.
USC got its first win in singles when Courtney Nagle retired her match after trailing freshman Anca Anastasiu 6-0, 3-0 at No. 3. DeVera was next off the court with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jamie Marshall at No. 5 and senior Bernadette Bayani clinched USC's victory with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Ana Leksinska at the No. 6 position.
Dianne Matias, Carine Vermeulen and Magnani completed the afternoon with wins at courts four, two and one. Vermeulen and Magnani both registered upset victories. Vermeulen surpassed 46th-ranked Dominika Dieskova, 6-2, 6-3, and Magnani topped Panova, 6-3, 6-4.
USC returns to the courts on Tuesday, March 9, when it hosts fifth-ranked North Carolina at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Tennis Stadium.
