No. 8 USC Grabs Pac-10 Win, 7-0 Over WSU|

PULLMAN, WASH. -- The No. 8 USC women's tennis team notched its first Pac-10 win of the year with a smooth 7-0 decision on the road against No. 56 Washington State. The Women of Troy followed up a doubles sweep with six straight-set singles win to improve USC's overall record to 7-2 and tally a 1-0 Pac-10 mark on the year.
#31-ranked doubles duo Judy DeVera / Amanda Fink extended their winning streak to eight straight as they closed down the doubles competition on the day with an 8-2 win over WSU's Spicer/Toth at the No. 2 position. Playing together for the first time this season, Anca Anastasiu / Sarah Fansler pinned up the first doubles win with an 8-2 decision, and then Lindsey Nelson / Julie Smekodub combined effectively again to post their seventh straight doubles win with another 8-2 victory at the No. 1 position.
#20 Lindsey Nelson kicked off the singles action with a quick 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 over Ekaterina Burduli, and #12 Sarah Fansler followed suit with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Amy Toth at No. 2. #48 Anca Anastasiu secured the match for the Trojans with her 6-1, 6-4 win over Aleksandra Cekic at No. 5 just before #89 Amanda Fink grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 over Marjolein van de Van. With the match in hand at 5-0, USC's Julie Smekodub remained perfect at the No. 6 singles slot with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ashley Spicer, and then Judy DeVera wrapped up the match with a 7-6, 6-0 victory over Aleksandra Stefanova.
USC next turns to face Washington in a 12 p.m. match in Seattle on Saturday (March 3).
