TUCSON, ARIZ. -- The fourth-ranked USC women's tennis team improved to 7-1 in 2006 dual matches with a 6-1 road decision over No. 45 Arizona on Saturday. The Women of Troy dropped just one singles match on the way to the victory to finish off a winning weekend for USC.
The 24th-ranked doubles duo of Luana Magnani and Lindsey Nelson posted an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, Judy DeVera / Amanda Fink and Carine Vermeulen / Dianne Matias also teamed up to round out a doubles sweep for the Women of Troy. The Trojans cruised through singles play with just one loss -- Luana Magnani's first dual-match singles loss of the season in a three-set battle that Arizona claimed with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 decision.
DeVera was the only other Trojan to go three sets, coming back after dropping the first set to post a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 win at the No. 6 singles position and round out USC's victory.
