LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The No. 7 USC women's tennis team got down to business back home at the Marks Stadium today, taking down No. 66 UC Santa Barbara with a 7-0 shutout to improve the Trojans to 8-1 on the year.

USC doubles cruised to the first point of the match with a run sparked by an 8-0 shutout from #45 Pulido/Scandalis at the No. 3 position. The top spot of #4 Christian/Santamaria came through next with an 8-4 win, and court two's Lao/Ramos rounded out the sweep with an 8-6 win to bring up singles action.

In singles play, #24 Sabrina Santamaria breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kiersten Meehan at the No. 2 spot to start USC's singles spark. Alison Ramos picked it up next for a smooth 6-2, 6-4 run through Jordan Dockendorf on court five to take it to a 3-0 USC advantage. At the No. 4 slot, Gabriella DeSimone answered the call and made a turnaround in her match, negating a loss in the first set with a powerful response to pin up the clincher with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory.

On court six, Valeria Pulido was the next to push past her Gaucho foe, pulling out a tight second set for a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Erica Cano and get USC up 5-0 in the match. The No. 3 position closed out next, with #63 Kaitlyn Christian tacking up a 6-1, 6-3 win over April Scatliffe, and USC was a win away from the sweep. #10 Zoe Scandalis sealed the deal for the day in refocusing against UCSB's Natalia Lozano at the No. 1 position for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win to finish up the 7-0 Trojan win.

USC's next competition is a top-10 tangle with No. 5 California for a nonconference clash with the Bears at 12 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 25) at Marks Stadium.
