    LOS ANGELES - The 12th-ranked USC women's tennis swept 69th-ranked San Diego State, 7-0, on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Marks Stadium. The shutout of the Aztecs marks the fourth consecutive match the Women of Troy have held their opponent scoreless.

    With the win, the Trojans improve to 5-0 overall, while the Aztecs fall to 3-3.

    The Women of Troy have now extended their winning streak over San Diego State to 11 matches.

    USC started off the match by sweeping the three doubles positions to capture the doubles point. The Trojans' Nicole Leimbach and Carine Vermeulen defeated San Diego State's Indra Erichsen and Dita Hauerlandova, 8-5 at center court. The Aztecs' Andrea Hermansen and Sisse Nielson dropped their match at No. 3 doubles to the Trojans' Judy DeVera and Dianne Matias, 8-3.

    USC's Lindsey Nelson seized the first singles point of the afternoon with a victory over San Diego State's Erichsen, 6-0, 6-0, at court No. 2. Anca Anastasiu quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory for the Women of Troy over the Aztec's Alesya Vidov at No. 3. Leimbach, the ninth-ranked player in the country, clinched the match for USC, defeating Hauerlandova, 6-0, 6-0, at center court.

    The Women of Troy next head north to the Bay Area to face No. 17 California on Friday, Feb. 25, at 1:30 p.m. in Berkeley, Calif. and top-ranked Stanford on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. in Palo Alto in a pair of non-conference matches.
