LOS ANGELES - On Sunday, Feb. 15, the No. 12 Women of Troy delivered a 7-0 shutout victory over No. 25 Texas in front of a large crowd in Marks Stadium.

The Trojans breezed through the doubles portion of the competition. USC's duo of Westby and Smith defeated Texas' Padegimait and Rabinovich 8-2. Shortly after, the twosome of Santamaria and Katz was victorious over the Longhorn pair of Batra and Groenvynck to claim the doubles point for Troy.

The Trojans' momentum from doubles carried over into the singles competition. Madison Westby sprinted through her singles match on court five and dished out a 6-0, 6-2 win over Texas' Lana Groenvynck. Next was Gabriella DeSimone as she swiftly beat Annat Rabinovich 6-2, 6-2. Courts one, two and three were all within a few points from finishing, but #65 Zoë Scandalis clinched the match for a Trojan victory on court two. She defeated Texas' Neda Koprcina with a 6-2, 6-2 decision.

Even though Scandalis had clinched for the Women of Troy, the coaches decided to play out the rest of the matches. #22 Giuliana Olmos concluded her match on court one with a victory almost immediately after Scandalis' clincher. She beat Ryann Foster with a score of 6-1, 6-3. The Trojans continued to shine as Sabrina Santamaria finished with a strong 6-0, 6-3 win of her own over Ratnika Batra.

Finally, only #72 Gabby Smith on court four was left in battle. After dropping the first set 6-7 to Longhorn opponent Dani Wagland, she found her groove and fought back to take the second set with a dominating 6-1 score. Instead of playing a third set, it was decided that Smith and Wagland would play a tiebreaker game. The winner would be the first to ten points, winning by two. Points were earned on both sides of the net and some impressive rallies were displayed. Wagland was able to earn match point, leaving Smith trailing 8-9. Smith dug deep and powered through the next three points to claim the 11-9 win, and secured the Trojans' shutout victory over the Longhorns.

USC's next action will take the Women of Troy to Northern California to face No. 5 California on Friday, Feb. 20 and No. 42 Saint Mary's on Saturday, Feb. 21.
