No. 17 Trojans Roll Over USF 6-1|

LOS ANGELES - The No. 17 USC women's tennis team won in dominating fashion as it topped No. 27 South Florida 6-1 at Marks Stadium today. After securing the doubles point, the Trojans were able to clinch the match with an impressive straight-set victory by Maria Sanchez from the No. 1 slot. USC improves to 5-1 overall with the victory.
Doubles action got off to a good start for the Women of Troy as the No. 80 team of Kaitlyn Christian and Maria Sanchez put together a string of spectacular serves and forehand winners to notch an 8-2 win over Rehberger/Vasenina on court two. In the No. 3 slot, USC's Lyndsay Kinstler and Danielle Lao trailed the entire match before falling to Bonte/Parker 8-5. With the doubles point on the line the No. 11 team of Valeria Pulido and Alison Ramos controlled the net to emerge victorious 8-6 in a closely contested match and seal the doubles win for the Trojans.
USC carried the momentum over to singles play and quickly stretched it's lead as Valeria Pulido made quick work of Alessandra Bonte 6-0, 6-0 and No. 110 Kaitlyn Christian defeated Janette Bejlkova 6-2, 6-0 to put the Trojans up 3-0. Looking to clinch the match early on court one, No.3 Maria Sanchez never fell behind as she knocked off No. 25 Irene Rehberger 6-4, 6-0 to seal the win for the Women of Troy. The team continued to roll as Cristala Andrews defeated Kate Parker 6-1, 6-2 from the No. 4 slot and No. 10 Danielle Lao easily picked apart Ecaterina Vasenina 6-2, 6-1.
With the victory in hand and the Trojans up 6-0, Alison Ramos continued to battle USF's Loreto Alonso Martinez in the days most highly contested match. After dropping the first set tiebreaker 6-6 (2), Ramos led the second set 3-2 before falling 6-3 to the high-powered attack of Martinez. Despite the loss, USC secured a 6-1 win over the Bulls of South Florida.
The Women of Troy return to the court on Sunday (February 13) as the Texas Longhorns come to town for a 12 p.m. match at Marks Stadium.
