No. 8 USC Grabs Fourth Win In 5-2 Victory Over Pepperdine|

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The No. 8 USC women's tennis team lost its first doubles point of the year but answered back swiftly with a strong singles effort as the Women of Troy posted their fourth straight win of the season in a 5-2 victory over No. 18 Pepperdine on Thursday afternoon at Marks Stadium. USC is now 4-0 on the 2008 season.
Serving up the deciding blow for the Trojans was freshman Leyla Entekhabi, who not only had a hand in a win at No. 3 doubles but also secured victory from the No. 6 singles slot with her 6-2, 7-6 win over Jill Braverman. After Pepperdine had taken a 1-0 lead with doubles wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions, USC evened things with a win from Gabriela Niculescu at No. 4 singles - a 6-2, 6-4 win over Anete Bandere. Amanda Fink got USC into the lead with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sylvia Kosakowski next, and Lindsey Nelson made it 3-1 USC with her smooth 6-0, 6-4 win over Bianca Dulgheru at the No. 1 spot. Pepperdine picked up it lone singles point to make the match 3-2 when Anamika Bhargava topped Sarah Fansler 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, but Entekhabi's win at No. 6 followed soon after to grab the win for the Trojans. Finishing off the match was freshman Maria Sanchez, whose 7-5, 6-2 win over Alex Liles at No. 5 topped off the 5-2 victory for the Women of Troy.
The next competition for the Trojans comes at the ITA National Team Indoors, run Feb. 7-10 in Madison,Wisc.
