Tucson, Ariz. -- The 10th-ranked USC (3-1, 1-1 Pac-10) women's tennis team swept the Arizona Wildcats, 9-0, this afternoon (Jan. 29) at the Robson Tennis Center in Tucson.

Fourth-ranked Jewel Peterson outlasted Arizona freshman Uzma Khan, 7-5, 6-2, as she paced the Women of Troy to a six-point sweep in singles matches. The win broke a two-match slump for Peterson.

Highlighting doubles play for the Trojans, the duo of freshman Tiffany Brymer senior Kara Warkentin upset the eighth-ranked Arizona duo of junior Michelle Gough and sophomore Lindsay Blau, 8-4. Brymer and Warkentin are currently ranked 39th in the preseason ITA rankings.

The Women of Troy will return to their home court on Tuesday, Feb. 1, against Loyola Marymount. The match will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the court adjacent to Marks Tennis Stadium.
