LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The 12th-ranked USC women's tennis team (3-1, 1-1 Pac-10) suffered a 6-1 loss to the visiting Arizona State Sun Devils (2-1, 1-1 Pac-10) this afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium. The match was previously scheduled for Friday, Jan. 26, but was postponed due to rain.

Despite earlier strong performances from all three USC's doubles tandems, the Women of Troy escaped with only one match victory this afternoon and relinquished the doubles point. With all three doubles matches ending in identical 8-3 scores, USC's Jewel Peterson and Tiffany Brymer earned a win at No. 1, while Arizona State grabbed victories at No. 2 and 3.

In singles play, No. 9-ranked Peterson was again the only USC player to earn a win in singles with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 decision over Adria Engel at the No. 1 position.

USC has a week off before hosting nonconference opponents San Diego State and Pepperdine on Feb. 7 and 9.
