Women's Tennis Registers 7-0 Shutout Against UC Irvine|

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - For the second time this week, the ninth-ranked USC women's tennis team shut out its opponent, this time beating UC Irvine, 7-0, Friday (Jan 24) at Marks Tennis Stadium. With the win, USC improves its record to 2-0, while UC Irvine drops to 1-1.
The Women of Troy won all three doubles matches to clinch the first point. At center court, Tiffany Brymer and Jewel Peterson defeated the Anteaters' Jenny Bowman and Tiffany Chang, 8-5. They were followed by twin victories of 8-1 at court No. 2 as Anita Loyola and Luana Magnani defeated Anna Bentzer and Hui Leow and at court No. 3 as Maureen Diaz and Carine Vermeulen beat Kristina Boss and Christie Posner.
USC's Brymer picked up the first victory in singles play by defeating Amy Tranckino, 6-3, 6-0, at court No. 5. Vermeulen, in court No. 6, followed suit by picking up a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Boss. The Trojans secured victory at No. 4 when Loyola swept Posner, 6-2, 6-1. Magnani continued the pattern by beating Chang at court No. 2, 6-1, 6-3. The Women of Troy kept rolling as Diaz defeated Bentzer, 6-2, 6-1, on court No. 3. Peterson closed out the match at center court defeating Jenny Bowman, 6-2, 7-6.
The Women of Troy return to action Friday, Jan 31, when they travel to Westwood to take on UCLA at 1:30 PM.
