1999: Warkentin had an outstanding 1999 junior season and was named to the 1999 All-Pac-10 second team ... She had a final national ranking of No. 58 ... She went 34-19 overall (second on the team in wins) and 19-11 in dual matches ... Warkentin went 15-12 at No. 2 and filled in twice at No. 1 with a pair of victories ... She lost in the first round of the NCAA Championships to Vanessa Castellano of Georgia ... She had great success in the fall, compiling a 14-4 record, including the consolation championship of the Arizona State Tournament, reaching the consolation finals of the Riviera Tournament and making the quarterfinals of the ITA Regionals ... After being unranked in the preseason poll, she was tied for No. 48 in the fall rankings ... Along with Ditta Huber, Warkentin also excelled in doubles, as the pair ended the year ranked No. 12 in the nation ... Warkentin went 17-15 overall and 12-9 in duals ... She and Huber went 16-13 overall and 12-9 in duals (all at the No. 1 position) ...
1998: Warkentin turned out to be a key USC addition as a 1998 sophomore after transferring >from Fresno State in January 1998 ... PREP EXPERIENCE: Warkentin is a 1998 graduate of San Marcos High in Santa Barbara, Calif... A four-year letterwinner playing in the No. 1 position, she won the Channel League title three times and reached the CIF finals as a junior... As a freshmen, she helped guide her team to the league championship... She was a four-time Santa Barbara News-Press Athlete of the Year ... She had a four-year high school record of 158-12 ... In juniors, she ranked as high as fourth nationally in doubles and 59th in singles ... In Southern California, she ranked No. 1 in doubles and No. 7 in singles ...
PERSONAL: Kara Lindsay Warkentin was born on December 2, 1977 in Santa Barbara, Calif... She is the daughter of John and Mardi Warkentin... Her brother, Mark, is a sophomore swimmer at USC... She is an English Literature major and hopes to become a high school teacher.
