Trojans Earn ITA Awards

Four members of Trojan tennis are honored with national awards.

THIS SEASON: Zoë Scandalis enters her first season at USC ranked No. 19 in the nation in singles to start spring 2012.

HIGH SCHOOL: Scandalis won a league title and reached the CIF section singles final as a freshman at San Pasqual High in Escondido, Calif.... Was named to the 2007 North County Times First Team... Played just one season at San Pasqual... Posted an 18-3 record at the junior level in 2010... Reached final of the 2010 ITF Claremont... Won 2010 Pilot Pen championship... Was the 2010 Hard Court National Open champion in both singles and doubles... Beat both the No. 147 and No. 210 ranked WTA players in summer 2011 tournaments... An honor student.

PERSONAL: Zoë Gwen Scandalis was born Sept. 21, 1993... Daughter of Aneesa Baker and Will Scandalis and stepfather Dewain Baker... Has one brother, Eli... Her father Will was a professional triathlete... Mother Aneesa played lacrosse and rugby at Johns Hopkins... Cousin Sania Mirza was the first Indian woman to be seeded in a Grand Slam event, the first Indian to break the WTA top 30 rankings and won the 2009 mixed doubles championship at the Australian Open... Enjoys singing, dancing and going to the beach in her free time... Lists Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Serena Williams as her biggest sports heroes... Would like to travel to Spain... Has not declared a major, but hopes to pursue a career in sports management and marketing after playing professional tennis after graduation.
