THIS SEASON: Maria Sanchez enters her final season at USC ranked No. 3 in the nation in ITA singles and No. 80 in doubles with Kaitlyn Christian... In the fall, Sanchez was ranked No. 3 in the nation in singles and No. 42 in doubles with Christian... Won the USTA/ITA National Indoor Singles Championship, beating Jana Juricova in three sets, and reached the ITA Southwest Regional final, falling to teammate Danielle Lao in three... Played fall doubles with Kaitlyn Christian, going 4-1 and reaching the ITA Southwest Regional semifinals.
2010: An ITA All-American in singles, Sanchez finished her junior season ranked No. 5 in the nation in singles, No. 69 in doubles with Valeria Pulido, and No. 79 with Lyndsay Kinstler... Selected to All-Pac-10 First Team and was named to the 2010 USTA Summer Collegiate Team... Reached the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals as the tournament's No. 3 seed... A nine-match win streak lifted her to rank No. 2 in the nation in the March 30 ITA rankings... Went 29-9 overall in singles and was 17-4 in dual-match play at the No. 1 position... In doubles, went 16-14 overall, including an 11-11 mark in dual matches... At the No. 1 doubles position, went 5-5 with Kinstler, 4-4 with Danielle Lao and 2-2 with Pulido... Entered the spring ranked No. 8 in the nation in ITA singles and No. 19 in doubles with Valeria Pulido... During the fall, was ranked No. 17 in the ITA preseason singles rankings and No. 47 in doubles with Pulido... Went 7-3 in fall singles, going on a seven-match win streak in which she won the ITA Regional Championship... Reached the ITA National Indoors Round of 16... Went 4-2 in doubles, reaching the ITA Regionals quarterfinals with Pulido and competing in ITA All-American qualifying. 2009: Sanchez finished her junior season ranked No. 26 in the ITA singles rankings... In doubles, finished ranked No. 49 with Gabriela Niculescu and No. 75 with Alison Ramos... Named to All-Pac-10 Second Team and earned a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships, falling in the first round... Was hampered by a rib injury that kept her out of several dual matches during the regular season and also the Pac-10 Tournament, but still went 24-11 overall in singles play... Went 10-7 in dual match singles, going 7-5 at No. 1 and 3-2 at No. 2... Named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the first time on April 13 after returning from injury for wins in Arizona... Reached the singles semifinals at the National Collegiate in January... In doubles, went 13-5 in dual match play with Ramos at the No. 2 (4-5) and No. 3 (9-0) positions... Ranked No. 22 in the ITA preseason singles rankings and No. 23 in doubles with Niculescu and No. 53 with Ramos... During the fall, went 10-1 in singles, losing her first singles match at the Riviera/ITA All-American Qualifying, but winning the next 10 to claim the Riviera/ITA All-American Qualifying Consolation Final and then win the ITA Regional Singles Championship... Finished the season 25-9 overall in doubles, including a 9-2 fall doubles mark... Went 7-1 with Niculescu including five straight wins to claim the ITA Regionals Doubles Championship [7 wins with Niculescu later vacated due to NCAA penalty; revised records: 18-9 overall in doubles, 2-2 in fall doubles, 0-1 with Niculescu]... Also went 4-2 with Ramos to reach the Riviera/ITA All-American Qualifying Consolation quarterfinals... Competed in summer 2009 as a member of the USTA Summer Collegiate Team.
