    Women of Troy host Youngstown State, Virginia Tech and Long Beach State this weekend for the NCAA 1st & 2nd Rounds.

    THIS SEASON: Gabriella DeSimone enters her final season at USC.

    2013-14 SEASON: DeSimone earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention as a junior... Reached the singles semifinals of the National Collegiate Tennis Classic... Also reached the doubles semifinals at the NCTC with Kaitlyn Christian... Went 23-12 overall in singles with a 14-5 mark in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 4 position, going 7-2... Also played at No. 3 (2-2), No. 5 (3-1) and No. 6 (2-0)... In doubles, went 14-6 overall with a 9-2 record in dual matches... Went 5-1 with Zoë Scandalis, with a 4-1 mark in dual matches at the No. 3 position... Also paired with Brynn Boren (1-1), Kaitlyn Christian (3-1), Zoë Katz (3-2) and Ellie Yates (2-1)... Entered the preseason ranked No. 56 in the nation in ITA singles and was No. 80 in singles entering the 2014 spring season.

    2012-13 SEASON: DeSimone finished her sophomore season ranked No. 78 in the nation in ITA singles and No. 49 in doubles with teammate Zoë Scandalis... Named Pac-12 Player of the Week on April 3... Earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention... Reached the doubles final of the National Collegiate Tennis Classic with Scandalis... Reached the Pac-12 Singles Round of 16... Went 23-10 overall in singles, going 14-5 in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 4 position, going 7-2... Also played at No. 2 (1-0), No. 3 (3-2) and No. 5 (3-1)... In doubles, went 22-13 overall, going 11-6 in dual matches... Went 17-11 overall with Scandalis, going 7-5 in dual matches (6-4 at No. 2, 1-1 at No. 1)... Also paired with Danielle Lao (3-2, 2-1) and Giuliana Olmos (2-0, 2-0)... Entered the 2013 spring season ranked No. 56 in the nation in singles and No. 13 in doubles with Scandalis... Went 6-3 in singles and 9-5 in doubles with Scandalis in the fall... Highest singles ranking was No. 56 on Jan. 3... Ranked as high as No. 13 in doubles with Scandalis on Jan. 3.

    2011-12 SEASON: DeSimone was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on February 27 after clinching matches vs. UC Santa Barbara and California... Went 27-12 overall in singles, going 18-7 in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 5 position (15-7) and was also 3-0 at the No. 4 spot... Reached the Pac-12 Invitational singles final...Had two big comeback wins in singles during the NCAA Team Quarterfinals and Semifinals... Went 3-2 overall in doubles, going 2-1 with Zoë Scandalis at the ITA/Riviera prequalifying and 0-1 with Danielle Lao... In the fall, competed in ITA/Riviera prequalifying and at the ITA Regionals.

    HIGH SCHOOL: DeSimone went undefeated on the way to CIF singles titles as a freshman and sophomore at Cathedral Catholic High in Del Mar, Calif.... Named 2007 and 2008 San Diego Union Tribune Female Tennis Player of the Year... Twice honors as San Diego Hall of Fame Athlete of the Month... Won the 2010 ITF Costa Rica Bowl championships... Ranked in the top-5 national in 12, 14, 16 and 18 age groups

    PERSONAL: Gabriella DeSimone was born Feb. 27, 1993 in La Jolla, Calif.... Daughter of Bob and Sue... Has one brother, Bobby... Hopes to win an NCAA championship while at USC... Would like to play professionally after graduation... Majoring in international relations.
