    Trojans Run Into Biting Gators

    MADISON, Wis. -- USC ran into a Florida Gator buzzsaw and couldn't get on track, dropping a quarterfinal match at the Women's National Indoor Team Tennis Championship, 7-0.

    With the win, No. 1 Florida advances to the semifinals for the ninth time in the 10-year history of the event.

    It did not reach the semifinals in 1995 after losing to Arizona in the quarterfinals.

    The 19th-ranked Trojans (3-5) will play in a consolation match on Saturday, after beating Kansas on Thursday.

    The Gators (6-0) will play Arizona in the semifinals tomorrow at 11:30.

    Florida is currently on a school-record 37-match winning streak and improved to 10-6 overall against the Trojans.
