Sun Devils Make Quick Work of Trojans

TEMPE, Ariz. - In one of the quickest matches of the season, No. 16 Arizona State defeated No. 19 Southern California at the Whiteman Tennis Center on Saturday. The Sun Devils, even without all-American Reka Cseresnyes, proved to be too much for the Trojans. Because Cseresnyes went down the day before with a sprained ankle, Stephanie Lansdorp stepped up to the No. 1 position against the Trojans and defeated Nicole London in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Katy Propstra also notched her first Pac-10 victory beating Ditta Huber, 7-5, 6-1.

In doubles play, Lansdorp and Propstra's breezed by Huber and Pam Trump, 8-0. The 17th ranked Sun Devil's pair is 4-1 this season in dual-match action. Also winning and playning for the first time this season were Alison Nash and Torey Pratt. They defeated Karolina Bakalarova and Veronika Safarova, 8-4.

Lansdorp and Propstra's moves to the No. 1 and 2 positions ended up being a spark plug for the Sun Devils defeating the Trojans 6-3 and matching their record to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-10 South. The Trojans fell to 2-4, 0-2 in the Pac-10 South.
