    Ishimatsu Reaches Final on 1M, Platform At Nationals

    Senior diver Haley Ishimatsu was a finalist on women's 1-meter and earned a spot in the 10-meter platform final while junior Collin Pollard was 11th on men's 1-meter during the first two days of the 2014 U.S. Diving Winter Nationals on Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 16-17) in Columbus, Ohio.

    Ishimatsu, a two-time NCAA champion on platform, took eighth on 1-meter on Tuesday with 515.20 points. Former Trojan Ariel Rittenhouse was second (563.90). Ishimatsu was sixth in prelims with 254.65.

    Ishimatsu, on Wednesday, navigated through the prelims and semifinals of the platform to earn a spot in Saturday's final. She finished sixth in the semifinals with 608.45 points after finishing fifth in prelims. Saturday's women's platform final will begin at 1:48 p.m. CT.

    Pollard took 11th in the 31-diver field on Tuesday with 352.00, less than 20 points away from making the final.

    "Both divers competed to the best of their abilities on the first day," USC Head Diving Coach Hongping Li said. "They did a great job. Haley continued that on Thursday."
