LOS ANGELES - USC's men's and women's swimming and diving teams placed a combined eight swimmers on the 1999 Pacific-10 All-Academic first and second teams, the conference announced on Monday. Another seven swimmers and divers received honorable mention honors.
Junior Bret Awbrey (3.59, industrial engineering), sophomore Justin Dumais (3.86, exercise science), junior Shawn Schuessler (3.28, business administration) and senior Dorte Lindner (3.67, communications) were all named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team.
Senior Bela Szabados (3.03, business administration), junior Emily Ayers (3.53, psychology), senior Lindsay Benko (3.07, communications) and junior Paige Francis (3.17, communications) were named to the second team.
Receiving honorable mention honors were juniors Hillary Biscay and Meghan Newlin and sophomores Liah Kim, Alexis Lyon, Melissa Pavlik, Dan Karin and Chad Olson.
