USC freshman Kalyn Keller, who won an NCAA title this year and two conference titles, was named 2004 Pac-10 Women's Swimming Newcomer of the Year, the Pac-10 Conference announced today.

Keller, from Phoenix, Ariz., broke the American record in the 1500 freestyle (scm) at the NCAA Championships last week. She was also second in the 400m free. At the Pac-10s, she won the 500y and 1650y freestyles, setting a Pac-10 meet record in the latter.

On the year, Keller set seven USC individual records and one relay record. She is USC's first women's swimmer to receive the award and the first Trojan swimmer to earn any Pac-10 postseason honor since Kristine Quance was Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year in 1996 and 1997.

Stanford's Tara Kirk was named Pac-10 Women's Swimmer of the Year and Arizona's Frank Busch earned Women's Coach of the Year honors.
