Senior Kasey Carlson broke the school record in the 100y free while sophomore Jasmine Tosky and both 400y free relays posted second-place finishes to close the 2013 Texas Invitational in Austin on Saturday (Dec. 7).

Carlson twice lowered the school mark in the 100y free, the second time with an amazing 47.22 (A) to beat Arizona's NCAA champion Margo Geer (47.35). Carlson, whose winning time would've been second at last year's NCAA final, first broke the school mark with a 47.67 in prelims, lowering Katinka Hosszu's previous standard of 48.06. Freshman Chelsea Chenaut and sophomore Kasia Wilk tied for 11th (49.44, B) in the race.

Tosky set a PR en route to the win in the 200y fly, clocking a PR 1:53.84 to win by almost three seconds with the only A cut in the event. Cheneault (1:57.75), freshman Maggie D'Innocenzo (1:58.18) and senior Meghan Hawthorne (1:59.10) also turned B cuts.

Carlson led USC's 400y free relay to a school record, joining sophomores Kendyl Stewart and Wilk and Chenault to second in 3:14.32 (the previous record was 3:14.88).

The men's quartet of junior Cristian Quintero, freshman Santo Condorelli and seniors Jack Wagner and Dimitri Colupaev took second with an A cut of 2:53.10.

Sophomore Ted Singley took third in the 1650y in 15:06.21 (B) with junior Cary Wright eighth (15:24.40, B). Senior Lynette Lim led USC's finishers in the women's race in sixth (16:24.65, B) with junior Andrea Basaraba seventh (16:36.88).

Freshman Michael Domagala was Troy's top finisher in the men's 200y fly (1:45.05), taking second with a time good enough for 10th in USC's all-time top 10. Wright took eighth (1:46.75) after going 1:45.31 in prelims. Singley was 12th (1:46.82, B).

Stewart led three finalists in the 200y back, taking second in 1:53.10 (B). Sophomore Joanna Stenkvist was fourth (1:54.86, B) while freshman Alexandra Malazdrewicz was seventh (1:58.42, B). Senior Chase Bloch led USC's finishers in the men's 200y back in seventh (1:43.90, B) while junior Luca Spinazzola was 12th (1:44.82, B).

Colupaev (43.10), Quintero (43.27) and Condorelli (43.64) took fourth, sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 100y free, all with B cuts. Quintero went 42.66 in prelims (.12 off an A cut) while Condorelli went 43.35.

Senior Stina Gardell (2:09.75) and junior Andrea Kropp (2:11.31) went 3-4 in the 200y breast with B cuts. Kropp went 2:09.82 in prelims. Freshmen Riley Hayward (2:14.01) and Kelsey Kafka (2:15.08) also posted B cuts in 10th and 11th.
