    Results

    Senior Katinka Hosszu won three times while senior Victoria Ishimatsu and junior Haley Anderson won twice each to lead the No. 5 USC women's swimming and diving team to a 156-144 win at No. 8 Arizona in Tucson, Ariz., Saturday (Nov. 11).

    USC (3-0 overall, 3-0 in the Pac-12), fell in the 200y medley relay to start the meet, though junior Christel Simms, sophomore Kasey Carlson, junior Yumi So and junior Lindsay Parrish did post an NCAA `B' cut 1:41.81.

    Anderson won the 1000y free to open the individual events with a 9:52.57. Sophomore teammate Lynette Lim took second (10:11.53).

    Hosszu won the 200y free in 1:46.15 (NCAA `B' cut), edging Anderson's sister, Alyssa, a senior at Arizona who clocked a 1:46.34. Sophomore Stina Gardell claimed third (1:49.39).

    Simms led USC finishers in the 100y back in third (56.33) while senior Ania Kowalczyk's 1:03.77 was good for second in the 100y breast. Senior Tanya Krisman then went 1:58.59 (NCAA `B') in the 200y fly for second and Carlson was second in the 50y free (23.21). Carlson was also Troy's top finisher in the 100y free in third (50.61).

    Hosszu helped USC get back on track in the 200y back with a winning time of 1:57.76 (NCAA `B') before junior Jessica Schmitt led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200y breast with a 2:16.40. Gardell was second (2:16.73) and junior Jordan Danny third (2:16.87).

     

     

    Haley Anderson came back to win an exciting 500y free, edging her sister, 4:46.70 (NCAA `B') to 4:46.84. Haley took over the lead after 200 yards and held it the rest of the way, though Alyssa made up almost a second over the final 100 to make it extremely tight. Lim was third (4:54.80).

    Krisman and So went 1-2 in the 100y fly in 53.99 and 54.28, respectively, both in NCAA `B' cuts.

    The Trojans registered another 1-2-3 sweep in the 400y IM with Hosszu leading the charge with a 4:12.97. Gardell was second (4:15.64) and sophomore Meghan Hawthorne third (4:18.64).

    Ishimatsu remained unbeaten in the early season, winning the 1-meter (296.93) and the 3-meter (308.63). She squeaked by Arizona's Samantha Pickens (308.25) on the higher board.

    Arizona won the 400y free relay with a 3:20.00, though USC's Carlson, Simms, senior Amanda Smith and Hosszu clocked an NCAA `B' 3:22.44.

    USC faces Arizona State Saturday (Nov. 12) at 11 a.m. PST.
