In a meet that featured temperatures upwards of 100 degrees and intensity even hotter on the deck, the Cardinal team outlasted the Gold, 322-269, in the annual Cardinal and Gold intrasquad exhibition meet Friday afternoon (Sept. 14) at McDonald's Swim Stadium.

Only a few months before construction begins on the new Uytengsu Aquatics Center, USC swimmers and divers not only competed in the pool and on the boards, but earned points in the goggle toss and lane line relay.

Because the meet was an exhibition, times were not kept, but the event kicks off the 2012-13 season. The women's and men's teams finished third and seventh, respectively, at the 2012 NCAA Championships, each for the second year in a row.

The women's squad kicks off the season against Utah at home on Oct. 13 at noon. The men's team begins action when it hosts North Carolina State on Oct. 19-20.
