INDIANAPOLIS - Junior Corrie Murphy (400m IM) and sophomores Kristin MacGregor (100m breast) and Kellie Brennan (3-meter springboard) all reached the finals in their respective events to highlight USC's second day at the 2000 Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind., on Friday (March 17).

USC, with only six swimmers and one diver competing, was in sixth after the second day with 140 points. Georgia was in first with 336.5 points. The meet is being swum in short course meters.

Murphy took second in the 400m IM, finishing in 3:37.77. It was her first finals appearance since finalling twice as a freshman in 1998. Columbia's Christina Teuscher won the event in 4:33.81.

MacGregor reached her second finals in as many days, tying for sixth in the 100m breast in 1:08.25. She tied with Georgia's Ashley Roby.

Brennan also finalled in her second consecutive day, taking fifth in the 3-meter springboard with 500.85 points. She was seventh in the 1-meter on Thursday.

Freshman Jennifer Parmenter made her individual point-scoring debut by reaching the consolation finals of the 400m IM. She finished 15th overall in 4:46.06.

"Kellie Brennan is doing an awesome job," USC coach Mark Schubert said. "For her first time at NCAAs, I am so impressed with her poise. Corrie Murphy was really good again. She's having a career year. I'm really amazed we've been able to do so well with this small of a team."

Senior Paige Francis reached the consolation finals of the 100m back, finishing 13th in 1:01.51. Freshman Michala Kwasny was 21st in the 400m IM (4:48.36).
