THIS SEASON: Katie Tyrrell is a 2003 junior who will continue to add depth for the Trojans in the IM and back events.
2002: For the second consecutive year, Tyrrell competed in a trio of races at the 2002 Pac-10s, finishing 26th in the 400y IM (4:31.21), 35th in the 200y back (2:09.69) and 44th in the 200y IM (2:07.21).
2001: Tyrrell competed in three events in the 2001 Pac-10 Championships, taking 19th in the 400y IM (4:30.11), 20th in the 200y back (2:07.33) and 31st in the 200y IM (2:08.82).
HIGH SCHOOL: Tyrrell prepped at Granite Bay (Calif.) High, where she was an All-American as a senior in 2000 ... She was her school's Most Outstanding Swimmer honoree and earned U.S. National Army Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors as a junior and a senior.
PERSONAL: Her birthday is Sept. 8, 1982 ... She is a Presidential Scholar and plans to major in communications ... Her father, Steve Tyrrell, was an All-American swimmer at USC between 1970-73 ... He was part of an NCAA 800y free relay title-winning team in 1972 ... Her mother, Laura, also attended USC.
