THIS SEASON: Alice Orr, a 2003 redshirt sophomore, is one of USC’s top breaststrokers will look to be a point scorer at the Pac-10 level and has a shot to make NCAAs.
2002: In her first season competing for the Trojans, Orr provided a boost at her first Pac-10 meet as a 2002 freshman. She reached the finals of the 100y breast and the 200y breast, taking 12th (1:04.18) and 13th (2:18.11), respectively. She was also 25th in the 200y IM (2:05.25) … Her 2:16.80 prelim time in the 200y breast at the Pac-10s was an NCAA consideration time, but not quite good enough to qualify for the NCAAs. It was still the second fastest time for the Trojans last year … At the 2002 U.S. Summer Nationals, she was 35th in the 100m breast and 45th in the 200m breast.
2001: After redshirting during the academic season, Orr competed for USC at the 2001 U.S. Spring Nationals, taking 23rd in the 200m breast (2:39.02) and 27th in the 100m breast (1:13.51). Her bonus consolation race in the 200m breast marked her first career second swim at a senior national meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Orr swam for Torrey Pines in San Diego, Calif., and was captain of her team ... Won a combined four CIF titles at Torrey Pines ... She competed in the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials, taking 61st in the 100m breast and 68th in the 200m breast ... She was an Academic All-American and was her school’s Athlete of the Year as a senior ... She holds the San Diego-Imperial Swimming age group record in the 100 and 200 breast. She was also a two-time top-16 national age group qualifier.
