THIS SEASON: A 2003 junior, Erin O’Kane has recovered from shoulder surgery and looks to resume her role as a promising butterflyer and freestyler with potential to score at the Pac-10 level and beyond.
2002: O’Kane had shoulder surgery in January of 2002 that wiped out her season.
2001: As a 2001 freshman, O’Kane contributed to the Trojans as a point scorer at the Pac-10 Championships, where her efforts were highlighted by an 11th-place showing in the 200y fly (2:02.15, third fastest on the team). She was also 20th in the 100y fly (56.80) and 21st in the 500y free (5:00.40). Overall, she posted lifetime bests in the 100y and 200y fly and the 200y and 500y free ... At the 2001 U.S. Spring Nationals, her first such event, she was 23rd in the 200m fly (2:19.20).
HIGH SCHOOL: O’Kane prepped at Mt. Carmel High in San Diego ... She reached the CIF finals in her division each year in high school in both the 100y fly and the 200y free. She posted All-American consideration times in both events as well ... She also competed at the 2000 Junior Nationals, taking second in the 200m fly.
PERSONAL: Her birthday is Feb. 12, 1982 ... She made Dean’s List in the Fall of 2000 ... She hopes to be an attorney some day … She is a communications major with a minor in law and society.
